Thinc Diphuruntly - Thinking affects our life
Is it possible that your thinking will determine your future? Absolutely. Take sports stars as an example. Aaron Rogers with Green Bay Packers is earning 33.5 million a year. That is just under 2 million dollars a game. Clayton Keshaw, a major league baseball player with L.A. Dodgers, doesn’t fare as well, he makes just 22,000 per game. Hockey players are even paid less. The highest paid player is Conner McDavid coming in at 12.5 million per year which translates to just 15,000 a game. What all these guys have in common, besides insane amounts of money, each has their own sports psychologist. The owners and management know that how we think makes a difference. So they are willing to pay for a head shrink so these million-dollar players will be thinking right.
The bible actually has a lot to say about our thinking. All that we experience starts with our thinking. Don’t like what is happening in your life? It may be a result of faulty thinking. Are you filled with fear, anxiety, and struggling with depression? It may be a hint to examine the thought life. Can’t get ahead in your career? It just might be that your thought life is creating the glass ceiling.
In 2 Corinthians 10:5 the Apostle Paul admonishes us to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”. He is teaching us to take charge of our thought life. Mahatma Gandhi understood this truth. He said, “Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.”
This truth is so impactful. It is best that we don’t leave it to human whims or selfish desires. Accordingly, Paul says, bring those thoughts in line with the values and purposes of Christ. In another place Paul says, “Your attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 2:5) When I bring my thoughts in line with God’s love, purpose, and values, those very things will begin to form and develop in me. How great is that!
This Sunday I will give my introductory message on the new sermon series I will be doing this fall. It is called “Think Differently.” I want to encourage you all to start on the most exciting journey of your life and that is to Think Differently. Don’t miss the first one. It will set the stage for the rest. If you are living in distant places the sermons will be online. Look forward to seeing you!

If we get our mandatory 12 people, we will start on Thursday, September 20th and will run until November 29th.
Those who been in Growth Groups, experience deeper connections with God and finding a clearer understanding of the Bible. They are also finding closer relationships with the people in the groups as they study the previous Sunday’s sermon and engage in discussion and prayer time with each other. The dessert time, socials and service projects provide opportunity for lots of fun and community connections.
