What's Up @ KCF

 GLORY!

John 17. The time for talking is done! The time for praying is here! But what do you pray on your last night alive?

Jesus knew that the end was here, his time was at hand… “Father the hour has come…” What do you pray when time is short, and words have a finite number? You choose well what you want to say, you make each word count.

His prayer is for glory, that in this hour the Father would glorify him so that he could glorify the Father. Glory all round! Yes, he asks that he would again be with the Father in glory, but I believe he’s asking more than just to get through the cross and get to the glory on the other side; the cross itself is part of the glory of God! And I believe Jesus is asking that the Father would glorify him in the cross. The cross is not just a hurdle to get over, but is the glory of God.

How can that be? Something so cruel and hideous and shameful and humiliating, how can that be linked to the glory of God? Because the astounding truth is that this is what Jesus went through for us, this is who God is, this is what he is like, the saving God, the merciful God, the compassionate God, the self-sacrificing God!

How someone faces death, how they die, often brings a glory greater than their life, or that illuminates the essence of their life in such a remarkable way. Jesus and the way he faced death for us, leaves us breathless in awe and wonder of the God who would do this for us.

As Jesus is glorified on the cross, the Father is glorified as the saving God who put in place the rescue plan to redeem the world. Glory, Glory, GLORY!!!

See you Sunday for a whole lot more of his glory! Pastor Andrew Freeman
