Holy Spirit and Tongues
Speaking in tongues? Is that for today? What does the bible say about this? This is a controversial subject and there are many opinions on it. Do you have one? Very early in my Christian experience, I experienced the manifestation of tongues in my life. I was attending a Baptist church when I first became a Christian. The Gift of Tongues was not on my mind at all. One night, I am reading the book of Acts alone in my bedroom of my parent’s home. I prayed, ‘Lord, what ever the early Christians had, I want’? Without any prompting or guidance from anyone, I began to speak in another language I had not learned. Honestly, it freaked me out. But I felt God’s presence. Immediately, I began to recall the teaching I had received that the ability to speak in tongues was generated from the devil. God did not give that gift anymore. I was in turmoil. You will hear the rest of the story this Sunday, as we continue the sermon series, FORGOTTEN GOD, REVEALED.
