Honor and the blessing
How to rear children is an evolving and sometimes confusing set of rules. Spanking was in, and now it is abuse. Time out was the norm. Now, it is talking to your child. (Talking to a two-year-old having a tantrum is as productive as talking to City Hall about your parking ticket) Rules are out, and now it is suggestions and choices. Meanwhile, parents are wringing their hands, wondering what they should do! Interestingly, one of the characteristics of the last days will be marked by children “disobedient to their parents” (2 Timothy 3:1-2)
In his letter to Ephesians, Paul lays out concepts regarding the relationship between children and parents. First, he says children honor your parents, but then he says parents don't exasperate your children. (Ephesians 6:1-4) The two go together like hand and glove.
Honoring your parents is a quote from the Ten Commandments. It comes with a promise of blessing. Find out how this works. This Sunday at KCF, I will be sharing on Honor and the blessing in it from Ephesians 6:1- 4 - Pastor Jim Reimer.
