Standing on Faith

Isaiah 7:9…”if you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.”

What are you standing on? The prophet is suggesting that it is our faith we need to stand on. This is a profound truth every success guru will have as a prerequisite. Standing firm in what you believe. The problem is that many times we have not clearly marked out what we believe. When we stand on the sandy beach of the ocean, we can feel the sand erode from under us as the ocean wave’s laps at our feet. One will experience a constant barrage of “waves”, trying to undermine your values, ideals, and goals. In 1927, an Ohio newspaper printed this popular saying in a sermongram, “It is easier to fall for anything than to stand for something.”

True that. There are some things that I have settled in my heart and mind. I list them here:

  1. I am not perfect; therefore, I have no right to judge others.
  2. I am not good enough, therefore I need a Saviour, His name is Jesus.
  3. God is good; therefore, I will trust him in every area of my life.
  4. God does not change; therefore, I will always defer to him despite what my circumstance say, what the world proposes, or even what I perceive to be right.
  5. I have not arrived, therefore I endeavour to grow in grace and truth as the Spirit enables me.

These five areas have kept me from falling in times of trouble, hardships, and conflict. When sickness comes, I trust God. When financial crisis hits, God is my source. When conflict rushes in, I stand in the faith that God fights for me. What are you standing on? I am standing on the Faith Rock which is God. Why not join me there; this Rock has room for everyone who would climb aboard.

This week we are privileged to have the Apostle to the North, Mark Ramshaw with us. He will be speaking and praying for the sick on August 23, Friday at 7 pm, and then again on Sunday morning August 25 at 10:25 am. If you need a miracle, a word of encouragement, or just a friendly atmosphere, come and visit us. If you like, come early for coffee and muffins at 10 am. See you this weekend.
