Future Without Regrets

Regrets. Some carry it like an albatross around the neck. It is something that won’t go away and colors every future decision. If you are living in regret, I have two pieces of good news for you:

1. God has designed a new day for you. Each day, as the sun rises in the East, you can be sure that God is speaking. He is saying yesterday is gone, this is a new day, and if you have blown it in the past, you can start afresh. Each morning offers a clean slate, a new beginning, and a fresh start. You can’t change yesterday, but with God’s help and a little support from your friends, you can start on a new path of blessing and success.

It is true, as Jesus said, “Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful." (Revelation 21:5) I really like this. It says write it down: like a contract, a will, or a legal document. It is something you can take with you and wave it around. GOD MAKES ALL THINGS NEW, (emphasis mine) when we engage heaven in our lives.

2. The second good news is that we can avoid a lot of griefs, hardships, and the pain of regret, if we would simply put into practice the teachings from the Word of God. The Bible is a time honored, tested and tried, and most practical sage advice one can find. It is applicable for every culture, language, people group of every era. We have been engaged in a sermon series called, Words to Live By, from the book of Proverbs. (You can find them all at Kootenay Christian Fellowship webpage.)

This Sunday will be our last sermon on the subject and I will be talking about securing our future without regrets. Living without regrets reduces blood pressure, detriment for better health, makes for better relationships, will make for better spiritual connection with heaven and will go a long way in your pursuit of personal goals. My key thought will be from Proverbs 4:26, where it says: “Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm.”

If we have blown it in the past, God will forgive us and we will be able to move on. However, we will still have to live with the consequences of our past indiscretions. Better is it if we don’t blow it in the first place. That is what the writer is saying, “make” level paths so we don’t stumble, mess up, cause ourselves pain. For every action, there is a reaction. Proverbs is rife with good advice, counsel, and warnings. When we heed God’s word, we create for us a pathway that leads to, “no regrets”.

As we finish up this series, this may be the most important message yet. God wants to set us free from the past, but he also wants to show us a way where we don’t have “a past” that hangs like an albatross on our necks. Invite a friend, close neighbor, or family member to come along with you and let’s enjoy our new freedoms afforded to us by the relaxation of the covid rules. This is a new start. Let’s journey together with no regrets.

Sunday Celebration

BC Has Relaxed Restrictions - This Sunday, we will be meeting personally at the church @10:30am – Masks will be optional. We are so glad that we are gathering again, your presence is so important. This week we are able to enjoy the freedom of not having to wear masks as they will no longer be mandatory. Having said that the recommendation from the Province is for those who have not been fully vaccinated to continue using the mask. It is important during this time that we continue to respect distancing, continue with safe cleaning procedures, handwashing and most importantly, each other. The usual online options (Facebook and KCF.Online.Church) will also be available.
