Come Together
Covid really changed our world. The other night we had a social gathering of our small group. It felt weird. It was outside, around a barbeque, and no one wore a mask. I couldn’t help thinking throughout the night; are we safe? We have been bombarded, saturated, and inundated with messages of the dangers in contracting Covid 19. Daily, we have messaging to get vaccinated, at the same time, there are fears of the vaccination and government overreach. Like never before, people are pitted against each other due to fear – fear of Covid or fear of the antidote to Covid.
People are still hesitant to get together, attend live church, or go maskless. We need to be patient with people, respecting where they are in this journey out of the Covid era. For our own emotional well being I have a few suggestions:
1. Fear can be a terrible thing, but trust in God is liberating and healthy. A healthy fear can keep us safer, but trust in God will keep us emotionally balanced. Overly cautious can be deceptive, as there are too many things that can go wrong of which we have no control over. But one thing I can do, I can trust God to watch over me, my family, and my future. When I do my best, God will take care of the rest.
2. Stop asking people if they have been vaccinated. If you feel it is important to be vaccinated, great. Get it done. However, if another person feels concern about getting the jab due to their own personal health risks, belief systems, or religious convictions, allow them that space.
3. Get involved again. Every volunteer organization, church group, and even the workplace are begging for people to come back. There is so much we can do to make this world a better place, but it needs you. When we get involved again, we will have a healthier life view, people around us will grow in faith and experience, and our world will be a better place because you got involved.
Let me leave you Psalm 37:3-6 (NIV) 3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: 6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
This Sunday, we will start our series in Acts. The one thing that struck me in my study of Acts was the number of people that impacted and grew the early church were not superstars or the original Apostles, but ordinary men and women like you and me who changed the world in just thirty years.
Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday.
Sunday Celebration
BC Has Relaxed Restrictions – We are now meeting personally at the church @10:30am – Masks are optional – physical distancing and sanitizing remains. We are so glad that we are gathering again, your presence is so important. This week we are able to enjoy the freedom of not having to wear masks as they will no longer be mandatory. Having said that the recommendation from the Province is for those who have not been fully vaccinated to continue using the mask. It is important during this time that we continue to respect distancing, continue with safe cleaning procedures, handwashing and most importantly, each other. The usual online options (Facebook and KCF.Online.Church) will also be available.
Communion Sunday
This Sunday we will have communion. We look forward to sharing this special time together with you and if you are engaging online with us, be prepared at home with some grape juice and bread.
