Loneliness Be Gone

Loneliness is at a crisis. People want real time, in person connections, honest conversations, and barrier free activity. Do you find yourself thinking, “oh no, those people over there are not social distancing, they should have a mask on, or that activity is not safe.” We never had those thoughts two years ago. We have been conditioned to keep people at two arms length. As a result, angst fills our heart, emotions are a mess, and for many, we don’t know how to navigate life. Loneliness is the end result. If you are wearing loneliness like an albatross around the neck, here are some tips to get rid of it.

1. Find a purpose in life. Purpose will go a long way in dealing with loneliness. God has a purpose for every person, no matter who you are. (Ephesians 1:11,12 ) Volunteer, (yes you can safely), commit to a service group, be a part of a church, and make meeting with Jesus a priority for each day.

2. Take charge of your emotions. Emotions are fickle and cannot be trusted. Instead of emotions dictating your actions, let your mind rule the day. We are told to have the “mind of Christ”.(1 Corinthians 2:16) This speaks to me about doing the right things, whether we feel like it or not.

3. Be proactive in creating friendships. Getting involved in the community and not being controlled by negative emotions will go a long way in creating opportunities for long lasting, life-giving friendships. But one must be proactive. Taking the initiative is the key. Go slow, be patient, and don’t be a “cling on”, (nobody likes a leech) but be persistent. Invite someone for coffee, a walk, an activity that you both enjoy, offer to pick them up for church or some other adventure. (Yes, church can be an adventure too, in a good way.)

Connections happen because someone took the initiative. And don’t worry about how many friends you have. One good connection is worth 50 shallow ones.

4. My last point is, accept who God made you. Learn to be at peace with yourself. (Philippians 4:12) This may require a little work; like counselling, self-awareness, and listening to God as he whispers in your spirit - how much he loves you.

Loneliness doesn’t have to be a stinking thing hanging around your neck anymore, you can be free.

Growth Groups – Join, Explore and Implement

Growth Groups are our opportunity to meet together in small groups to explore scripture together, share our lives and pray together. Groups are now underway, but it’s not too late to become a part.

We have 2 different group formats available to ensure no one is left behind. If you value “in-person” meetings, we will have groups available that will be on Zoom, but with the intent to meet personally in a safe manner as often as possible such as having group walks or outdoor meetings sporadically. The other option will be an entirely Zoom based group for those that are unable to meet in person for various reasons.

As we say in GG: Join – Explore – Implement. Groups will be meeting on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Contact the church office office@kcfoffice.com or 250.352.1722 to register.

Prayer Meetings

We are having prayer meetings online. We would love to have you join with us from 7-7:45am on Wednesdays. Let us know if you would like to participate and we can zoom assist you.
