Rejoice in our Suffering
Suffering is never easy. But it is a fact of life. How we deal with suffering is important. We can lash out, making everyone’s life miserable around us. Or you can check out, meaning you bury your pain, hiding the problems you are experiencing, and pretending all is well. This approach is a recipe for a heart attack, high blood pressure, and a miserable life.
Last week we suggested offering a prayer of lament as a better way to emotionally deal with suffering and trouble. You can catch that message on KCF YouTube channel. However, lamenting is not enough. We also need to learn to rejoice in our suffering. This may seem like an oxymoron, or a contradiction of terms. How can one put suffering and rejoicing in the same context? Well, it is possible. More than that, it is the secret to a balanced life and successful life. You see, we all will suffer, and to navigate this challenge we need the balance of the prayer of lament, and the mindset of rejoicing. Rejoicing and lamenting will keep you from falling down. It will keep you walking straight. And it will give you the strength to run the course and finish the race.
This Sunday, you will learn the secret of how to rejoice in the midst of the greatest of life’s struggles. Bring a friend, lets spread the good news. See you Sunday – Pastor Jim Reimer.
