Healing the Wounded Heart

The last words of a dying man carry weight. Jesus spoke seven times while on the cross. Not paragraphs, but short cryptic sentences that point to the ways of healing the wounded heart. It is important to take note. As I said last week, we all experience trauma in our lives. When trauma invades our life, our heart is wounded. For some, that wound has been festering, causing pain and heartache for a long time. It need not be so. Jesus was wounded for us, so we could be healed. During the six hours that he hung on the pole of torture, Jesus practiced healing for the wounded heart; captured in the seven times he spoke. I will be sharing these sayings with you and how they relate to experiencing healing for the wounded heart. Pain and suffering in the heart are inevitable for us all. However, pain and suffering need not define us, disable us, or become our permanent condition. Jesus is our healer. As we “fix our eyes on him” (Hebrews 12:2) we can walk whole again. Join us this Sunday, as I present the third part in my series Heart Matters – Pastor Jim Reimer.
