Truth in the Heart

Have you ever considered your dysfunctional behaviours is simply a way to cope with your pain? Not a good way, but it may be the only way you know. And thus, it is better than the alternative. Everyone has experienced pain or is in the middle of it right now. Pain and suffering are in the world due to the sin factor. Sometimes we hurt people and sometimes people hurt us. Unfair events happen, justice is not realized, and horrific tragedy is experienced by both good and evil people. If you grew up in an angry home, or experienced a childhood of no affirmation, or born with a disability (what ever the severity) and felt the sting of bullyism, just to survive, one has to learn coping methods. Here is the question. These coping methods - are they bringing life and growth, or are they contributing to a life of increasing pain; marked by a downward spiral of regret and increased dysfunction?

In our continuing series called Heart Matters, I will be talking about how “truth” plays in the role of personal well being. Jesus said, “you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Free to be all that God has intended for you despite the pain and suffering you have endured. Join us for a transforming experience with Jesus, this Sunday at 10:30 am - Pastor Jim Reimer.
