The Blessing of Easter
What does Easter mean to you? To some it is a welcome holiday after a dreary snow filled winter. Speaking of snow, here in BC, we didn’t get enough of it; similarly, the human condition, as it appears we never get enough of what we want. If you are a skier, you want more snow. If you hate driving in it, you want less snow. And even a little is too much. Easter speaks to our insatiable desire to want more, never feeling fulfilled, and that awful sense of not “being enough.” Religion of every stripe tries to answer these issues, but Jesus and the Resurrection cuts through the hype, and causes a transformation to take place within. You might ask, how does the resurrection cause anything? Why is this a big deal? Well, here are some reasons:
1. It proves that Jesus can do a miracle
2. It reveals that Jesus does what he says he will do
3. It speaks that Jesus is alive and as such,
He lives to pray for me
He lives to help me in my troubles
He lives to advocate for me
He lives to speak to me
He lives to walk with me through life as my friend
He lives in me, therefor I am enough.
