Why Church?
If you are a member of a church family, have you ever asked yourself the question, Why? Is it because of the friends that attend? Or is it your tradition, something that is a part of your life? Is it because it helps you cope with the pressures of life? Or is it because if fulfills an inner need in your life to connect with a living God in the context of worship? Or is there another reason not articulated above? I would love to hear it, email me and let me know. The reasons mentioned are good and valid for a healthy and well-balanced life. But there is another reason often not considered or even taught in church circles. The Church has two purposes, equal in consideration. One is for the perfecting of the saints, which would fit into all the categories above. But the other reason for the Church is to be the vehicle of blessing in the culture, the salt and light for the earth’s preservation, and the advancement of the Kingdom of God for the salvation and healing of family members, friends, and neighbors. This is what the letter of Ephesians is all about. And it is to this end, we will conclude this part of the book of Ephesians considering the second reason for the Church. Come and hear how you can be a part of the greatest and most important ministry – the advancement of the Kingdom of God - Pastor Jim Reimer.
