Good News at KCF
If you want good news, don’t watch the news. Mostly sadness, trouble, and human tragedies on that channel. Sometimes life is like that. Bad things happen to good people. Unexpected trouble, hardships, and turmoil comes unannounced. If you are poor, it can be worse for you. If you are a minority, life is usually harder. If you do not have friends in high places, your opportunities are limited. If this is true today, it was even more so in Jesus’ day. Jesus recognizing this reality, we find him saying: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (Luke 4:18-19)
Does this scripture have relevance for us today? It does for me! Jesus set me free. Jesus caused me to see what I couldn’t before. I was a prisoner to my vices, but he broke the chains. When I met Jesus, my poverty turned into riches. Jesus to me, truly is good news. It is good news for us all.
This Sunday Andrew Freeman, a registered emergency nurse and church planter, will be sharing at KCF on the above scripture. If you are feeling like you need some good news, come along and join us. Invite a friend. Let us fill the house.
Pray for Doreen and I as we take holidays. Starting this Monday, we will be gone for 12 days.
Men’s Breakfast
I have asked Rawlin Falk, our Executive Elder, to come down from Quenel to be with us for August 10th and 11th.
We will have a men’s breakfast on August 10, 8am @ KCF. This is so important; I will be returning early to be with you all to share this significant event together.
We will have eggs, bacon, hash browns, fruit, and lots of coffee. We are asking for a suggested donation of ten bucks a person to cover our costs. If you plan to come, please reply to this email so that we can ensure we have enough food for everyone.
Then Rawlin will share on what it is to be in unity as a church from Ephesians.
See you this Sunday, and then again on August 11th – Pastor Jim Reimer.
