Do you know what Kingdom Culture is?

The term “kingdom” is used 114 times in the gospels. This concept may be foreign to us, given that we live in a democratic society. The Greek word used is “basileia” meaning realm or rule. One thing is clear, Jesus’ teaching was in direct contrast to the authoritarian and autocratic rule that Rome exercised in His day. Yet he persisted in his teaching that a new Kingdom was being established. This Kingdom was to exist not external, but internal. That the culture of the day was now to come under the rule and reign of a new monarchy, King Jesus. For those coming to Jesus, this was in effect immediately. Life practices that were in conflict to this new Kingdom were required to be adjusted and come under and into submission of the new Kingdom. Some walked away. They did not want to adjust to Jesus as King. They did not like the idea of a new monarchy in their lives. It is no different today. You may be ok with Jesus, as long as he does not interfere with your culture or your everyday life decisions. The Gospel still extends an invitation to come into his Kingdom. When we do, we find Kingdom benefits and responsibilities. If you are tired of living under the tyranny of this world’s principles, why not make a choice and come under the Kingdom of Heaven rule, and let Jesus be your King. Best decision ever.

This Sunday, Steve will be sharing on Kingdom Culture. Hear the lessons he has learned coming out of street culture and into a kingdom culture– Pastor Jim Reimer.
