What's Up @ KCF

When going through a storm, unappreciated advice might be, “Just rest in God.” It is easy to trust in God when everything is going your way. But what happens to your inner peace when sinking in the proverbial boat? How can we rest in God when turmoil is swirling all around us? The Bible tells the story of the disciples in the middle of a hurricane storm on the high seas while in a boat. They were afraid of dying that day. One should not underestimate the angst they felt since they were fishers and knew the danger they were in. They feared for their lives. In the middle of this mayhem, Jesus is resting – sleeping in their boat. Peter went and woke him and said, “Don’t you care if we drown?” We may feel that at times. God is sleeping, and we are drowning. This story in the Bible (Mark 4:35-41) illustrates that if Jesus is in the boat (your life), no matter how crazy it gets, your boat can’t sink. Therefore, Jesus’ sleeping posture demonstrates that we can rest completely and live in peace.

This Sunday, Anastasya Laverdiere will share her journey and experience of “Resting in God.” The community needs this message, invite a friend.

Doreen and I will be ministering in Surrey for the weekend. We will be retuning Monday – Pastor Jim Reimer.
