The Problem…

As we started into the BIG story last week, we looked at what God is like. The most striking and remarkable truth that we saw was that He is a God of relationship. We could know all sorts of facts about Him, but he has chosen to walk in relationship with each one of us. He doesn’t want us to have a distant knowledge of his attributes, but a walking revelation and experience first hand of who he is as he interacts with us. That is incredible! We were made for relationship with God!  Right in the beginning, God created man and woman to walk with him and know Him and to enjoy Him.

Perfect! God brought order out of chaos, life out of nothingness, light out of darkness, beauty out of the void and it was perfect. But then, as quickly as order came out of chaos, chaos came into order and not just chaos but disease. As man turned from God's instruction, from trusting in God, and made Self the focus, sin entered a perfect world and the disease began to spread, and spread at an alarming rate.

This week we have a special friend and guest speaker, Robin Konjer, from one of our churches in Kelowna joining us as we look at ‘The Problem’ and our need of rescue. As this disease spread, it contaminated every one of us and disfigured the very core of our being, our relationship with God.  But right at the beginning we see that God put in place a rescue plan like no other; as if it wasn’t enough that he created us for relationship with Him and lavished his love on us, he also made a way to rescue us and bring us back into friendship with him. The story promises a saviour and yet who could imagine the cost this saviour would take and that it would be God himself that would bear it.

From beginning to end the story is of God who wanted a people of his very own, that he would live among them, that he would be their God and that we would be his people, and the extreme lengths that he would go to to reach you and me. This, like nothing else, is going to reveal to us what God is really like!

 Love to all,

Andrew
