What's Up @ KCF

It is the soil, not the seed

If you have read the gospels, one thing will stand out: Jesus used the “parable” (often) to teach a truth. In fact, scholars say it was about 35-50 of them, depending on one’s definition. A parable in its simplest form is a story to teach or illustrate a spiritual truth.

An interesting characteristic of Jesus’ parables is that the spiritual truth was not obvious but hidden; a mystery to be sussed out. But when you get it and the light comes on, WOW. Knowing the mysteries of God is a level of intimacy with the Divine, which is out of this world. But let me warn you, it is not obtained by religion, rote, rules, or regulations.

This Sunday, we’ll look at one of Jesus’ most well-known teachings—the Parable of the Sower. It’s a story found in multiple Gospels, rich with meaning and encouragement for our lives today. It’s easy to miss its depth—even Jesus’ own disciples needed help understanding it.

This Sunday, I want to unpack this parable, discovering how it speaks to our hearts and our walk with God. I trust it will be an encouragement to you.

Invite a friend and let’s go a little deeper.
