The Foot Washer

Thoughts on John 13:1-15

My acceptance and obedience to Jesus as Lord, results in Jesus washing my feet. This is upside down thinking. When I subject myself to come under the authority of Christ, Christ lays aside his garments, (authority) and takes on the servant – serving me. This is the good news. In trouble, Jesus is not too busy to come and wash your feet. Feeling lonely, Jesus will appear and sit at your feet. Feeling spiritually empty, Jesus is the foot washer like no other spiritual person in the history of man.

He removes our sin, our guilt, and gives meaning to life. When I submit to him, he meets my deepest desires by coming into my life at my point of need. As long as I wash my own feet, there is no need for Jesus. He is still Lord, I just don’t experience it.

This Sunday, I will be speaking on Jesus as teacher and Lord, in our continuing theme, Jesus – God in human terms. Join us in either the 9 am or the 11 am worship meeting, with communion in each service.
