Christmas Light

Merry Christmas

Seven hundred years before the birth of Christ, Isaiah prophesied: “The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined.” (Isaiah 9:2)

How fitting is the above verse today, given the pandemic and the panic it is causing across the world. The challenge of COVID-19 is exacerbated by the season of Christmas. People feel darkness creeping in. This might be the reason why there has been a run on Christmas lights in our retail stores.

I have heard it said that this is a Christmas like no other. This may be your sentiment. It is going to be different. But different does not have to be bad. I am going to miss the kids, grand kids, the family dinners, and I am definitely missing the staff parties, the community parties and hugs all around. But what can’t be taken away is the light of Christmas. Take a moment, like Doreen and I did, and walk or drive around and enjoy the lights in your community. Each light represents a person needing love, prayer, and kindness somewhere in our world.

But the best light of all is the light that came into the world in the person of Jesus. As darkness tries to creep in, stealing the joy of Christmas, light a candle, or stand in front of a Christmas tree, or look into the starry night; and invite the light of Christ to shine in your heart.

This Christmas will be different, but when the light of Christ shines in your heart, it actually could become your best Christmas ever.

So from our home to yours, may you and yours be blessed this Christmas.

Join us for our very last Sunday of 2020. As we say goodbye to a most difficult year. We will be focusing on what God has done, the love he has shown to us and the hope we have in Christ.
