Appeasement Satisfied

Appeasement is a word I have been thinking about. We appease our kids by giving them chocolate. We appease our spouse by giving them chocolate. We appease our staff by giving them chocolate. Seriously, one would think chocolate is our saviour. It is Easter but really; it is not about the bunny, but the cross and the resurrection.

As I meditated on the word – appeasement, I began to see it being a part of every culture, ethos, and society. We use appeasement to keep the peace, to feel good about ourselves, even to get what we want. Every religion in the world has appeasement at its base core value.

All religions have tenets, rules, or ideas designed to appease what or whoever they worship. Religion is about humans appeasing a deity (of whatever it is) while Easter shouts from heaven; Jesus is our appeasement. This one difference sets Christianity apart from all other forms of worship. We don’t worship to appease God. Jesus did that for us by the way of the cross. He lived, died and rose again, so we could become the righteousness of God. When one applies the work done on the cross, God applies Christ’s righteousness to us. This is amazing. It sets us free of guilt, shame, and the feeling of never doing enough. What a release, what a freedom to enjoy, what a relief of the burden of trying to appease.

Easter makes Romans 8:1 a reality for all those who have given themselves to Christ. Here is what it says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

If you are feeling condemned, guilty, or feeling like you are never quite doing enough, please accept Jesus as your appeasement before a Holy God. Easter is about Jesus becoming sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Join us this Easter Sunday. We are going to ask you to step out on your front porch with your phone and do an interactive worship with us. I will say, He is risen, and all together across Canada, we will shout to the world, “He is risen indeed.” It will be fun.

Sunday Meeting

We want to make our online experience better for all our viewers. Church is a community, intended for interactive and responsive connection between each other. We have been using Facebook, but it has its limitations. We have launched kcf.online.church for all our attendees. CHECK IT OUT! There you will find a Bible, our schedule, links to our website, a place for prayer, a place to give, a page for interactive comments, growth group questions and more.

It will be easy for you to invite your friends, to share and to be more connected, even if we are virtual.

Please consider using this platform on Sundays at 10:30am, sign in, and enjoy.
