Don’t Do Anything Stupid
When I heard, “the key to leadership is, don’t do anything stupid,” I thought; there goes my opportunity. Who hasn’t done anything stupid? Stupidity entered the human race in a garden long ago and it has run rampant ever since. It is worse than a virus, more dangerous than nuclear waste, and so very easy to spot in others; but hard to discern and conquer within. This subject is so important; God had a whole book written to combat stupidity – the book of Proverbs.
Conquering stupidity is not about getting a university degree. It is not about finding and following a guru or acquiring secret knowledge hidden from the masses. Even those with exemplary character, moral discipline, and are model citizens will crash and burn because of one or more stupid acts.
But there is hope.
The most important thing I can say is that God knows we do stupid things, and has made provision for our redemption in the person of Jesus Christ. Praise God. He has saved me so many times from my stupidity. I am eternally humbled and grateful for God’s grace in this area.
Secondly, while God will forgive and help us, he wants us to develop and grow so we are “less stupid” as we move through life. For this reason, He has given us the book of Proverbs. The Bible is not one giant self-help book, but it is certainly a book that will help our “self” do better. Starting this Sunday and for the next 9 weeks I will be teaching from the book of Proverbs a series called “Words to Live By”.
If you stay with us for the next ten weeks, I can’t promise you that you will be cured of “stupidity”; but I can tell you that you will be encouraged, strengthened, gain insights to a life that is fulfilling and generous with God’s grace and forgiveness. With that, we will be able to increasingly view stupidity in the rear view mirror, as we move forward into God’s purpose and will for our lives.

We want to make our online experience better for all our viewers. Church is a community, intended for interactive and responsive connection between each other. We have been using Facebook, but it has its limitations. We have launched kcf.online.church for all our attendees. CHECK IT OUT! There you will find a Bible, our schedule, links to our website, a place for prayer, a place to give, a page for interactive comments, growth group questions and more.
It will be easy for you to invite your friends, to share and to be more connected, even if we are virtual.
