Jesus in Action!
Seeing people come to know Jesus is one of the most exciting things ever. As people realise that he is real, that he is alive, that his love is for them, that they can be forgiven, that they can have a relationship with God and that that is actually what we were designed for, is thrilling. Lives start to change, peace comes in, people experience freedom from anxiety, and love pushes out the fear. It has been a joy to see this happening even in the last few weeks as people have responded to Jesus, and also, over the last 6 months to see more significant changes in people setting themselves to be disciples of Jesus, whether it is through growth groups or different discipleship groups. Amazing!
Jesus starts out his mission by speaking out about the good news loud and clear, saying that the wait is over, and that “The kingdom of God is at hand”. It’s here! So, if there is a kingdom there must be a king! And the good news that Jesus is declaring is that he is that king and he has come.
From the moment he arrived things started changing dramatically. You can read about it on the first pages of the book of Mark - What does this new kingdom look like? Well, people's lives find purpose as they follow him, people get free of things that controlled them, it’s not like anyone had ever heard before, this new teaching works and has power! The sick are healed, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed… anyone listening want to be around something like that??!!
This Sunday we are starting a new series looking at ‘Jesus in Action’ - he is the king of a completely different kind of kingdom, and it is one that if you experienced even a tiny bit of, would really want to be a part of. It’s no wonder that elsewhere in the Bible it says that the atmosphere of this kingdom is JOY!!! And that joy is spreading. We will be following some of the action in Mark and seeing what it means for our lives.
It doesn’t mean life is all easy, there are many ups and downs and hard things that happen to all of us- but walking with and experiencing Jesus brings great peace and fulfillment.
The entrance, the doorway into this kingdom is to repent, to turn, to believe and put your trust in him with actions following.
Whether you have never experienced this before, or you have but you have grown distant, or you just want more of what God is doing… come and taste this life firsthand. Looking forward to seeing what God is up to this week!
Love to all,
Andrew
