Pastor Jim's Blog

Sometimes in life, one just requires a miracle. A divine intervention. A celestial interference. A spiritual manifestation. A supernatural phenomenon to occur. Life is like that. We think we have it all under control and then we get a curve ball. Something right out in left field hits us and we are left standing there thinking, ‘I didn’t see that coming’! Whether you are an eternal optimist (or not), unexpected potentially life changing things happen to all of us. It is at that moment one needs a different type of faith; let’s call it “mountain moving” faith.  I have been writing about faith now for a few weeks. However, the faith I am referring to here is different. It is a special infusion of confidence. Like an unction from heaven pouring itself into one’s spirit which has power to create and produce a miracle. This is more than having a positive attitude, although that will help. It is a step above the type of faith one has for salvation. This mountain moving faith, is an infusion of God into an untenable, potentially crushing, life devastating situation that comes uninvited into our life.

I want to shout Hallelujah!! God is a God of miracles. This gives us such confidence that while life can be overwhelming at times, we have a God that laughs at our troubles and reminds us “Be of good cheer, I have overcome” (John 16:33). God laughs not because he is insensitive or callous, he laughs because for God it is no problem to do a miracle. Are you in trouble? Need a miracle? Feeling alone? Be of good cheer, there is a miracle working God in Heaven that is able and absolutely willing to come and work a miracle on your behalf.

This coming Sunday, I will be sharing on mountain moving faith. The message will inspire, encourage, and strengthen us in our inner being. We will learn how to open our hearts to the miracle working power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Our Daily Bread

Most days at ODB, quality donated fresh vegetables and fruit as well as bread etc. is available to take home for free. Firstly, we welcome you to come and select from this abundance of food. Secondly, people often require plastic bags to take this food home in, and so we have an ongoing need for plastic bags.  If you have extra plastic bags that are overflowing in your closet or cupboard, please keep ODB in mind and drop them off anytime during our open hours or on Sunday mornings.
