Pastor Jim's Blog

This Sunday we are starting a new sermon series called from Dream To Destiny. It is a series first down by Pastor Robert Morris. In it he brings forward the idea that in order for one to go from a “dream” to your intended destiny, one has to go through ten test of character. Last Sunday, I made the statement, “One’s character defines your reputation and reputation determines your future”. Character development is more important than education, IQ or good looks. The above may be useful in the short term, but long term success will be determined by one’s strength of character. Character development is not something achieve by study it in a book. It is not accomplished in a ten day retreat centre. A strong ethical character is realized through hardships, pain, failures, and life’s hard knocks. But not in isolation. What I mean is that when these things come into our life; we need to have an opportunity to process them, to know we are accepted and not judged, and most importantly to know we are not alone.

As we go through our ten week sermon series, we are offering an opportunity to grow in our character by providing a framework for character development through Growth Groups. During the Growth Group, we will be discussing the character test presented in the Sunday message; thus creating an opportunity to process life’s challenges, in an atmosphere of acceptance and love, knowing that you are not alone. There is no greater way to grow in our character than in community and in the love of God.

God wants each of us to realize our Destiny. We all have a dream, but for some it has long been forgotten, crushed, or pushed to the back burner. Why not allow God to revive it again. Start by making a commitment to attend all ten sessions and to then agree to participate in a small group each week to process the character test presented. Remember it is never too late to revive your dream.  Looking forward to seeing this Sunday.

Growth Groups

We only have a few spots left. Why not sign up today as Growth Group starts this week. Don’t miss out.

Dreams to Destiny is the theme for our current series of Growth Group sessions. This ten week character study on the life of Joseph will be an encouragement to us all. By participating in a Growth Group you will get maximum benefit out of this sermon series. Growth group is a wonderful opportunity to grow in God and with each other.
