Money. It always seems to come down to the money. Covid19 - The stock market plunges. Election – stock market soars (or sinks). Middle East conflict – stock market crashes. Natural disaster – stock market reacts. Perhaps the most morbid of statistics according to CNBC and researchers from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Georgia, is when a CEO dies, the stocks in a company will rise in value. “Since the 1950s, almost half the time a CEO dies unexpectedly, investors react by pushing the stock up”. It seems, anything that happens, is evaluated by the effect it has on money. We have to be very aware of the power of money.

Money is meant to be a blessing to us, but only when it is controlled by the one possessing it. If that is turned around - money possessing us - it becomes a cruel and merciless taskmaster. I love this verse. “You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” (2 Corinthians 9:11)

What a blessing it is when we are free and able to be a blessing. Being “generous on every occasion” is a lifestyle of joy, prosperity, and influence. Each of us can make a significant and real difference when we are generous with our resources, time, and talents. But it is not one of arrogance or self importance, because we realize that anything we have is from the Lord. Verse 11 is a direct result of verse 8, 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)  “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” Notice the comprehensiveness to the generosity of God. We see God abounding towards us with all grace “in all things”, “at all times”, and “all that you need” so we can be abounding in every (emphasis mine) good work. I love the meaning in the Greek for this word “abounding”. It has the idea of “copious bestowal.” It gives an image of a plethora of goodness and blessing oozing out of the one being “made rich” by God.

This can be our reality if we are experiencing Victorious Living. In my sermon series, we are looking at our finances and how God wants us to be living victoriously. This Sunday, I will be sharing how we can abound in every good work, regardless of one’s monthly income. It has all to do with learning how to be in control of money instead of money in control of you.

I look forward to sharing this important message. Invite a friend, it will be helpful to anyone, whether they have faith in Christ or not. God’s principles are true and timeless.
