Fret No More About Money

We have been teaching on Victorious Living. One area that people really struggle with is in the area of finance. Most people can’t seem to get victory over their spending habits, their constant lack of resources, or their fear of not having enough.

Money is a big part of our lives. Jesus spoke more about money than he did about heaven. The anxiety around the financial component of our lives is often out of control. It can either be centred on not having enough or having too much money; both scenarios can rob our right to victorious living. What is interesting is the one who has too much money can be as unhappy as the one who doesn’t have enough. It is just different. Money is neutral. Our attitude towards it is not.

God would have us to see money as simply a tool. A tool to bless others, to meet your personal needs and to enlarge and further the kingdom of God.

If you are stressed about money then you are not experiencing Victorious Living. So how does one not stress about money? Good question! The answer might be “just have a little more of it”. Like the old saying “money doesn’t bring happiness”; to which one replied, “I would like to find out.” Unfortunately, they may be disappointed. More money can make one’s life easier, but not necessarily stress free. Victorious Living will be achieved when we employ time tested management principles of the money we have, rather than acquiring more of it. The Bible actually has a lot to say about this. Here are eight concepts on money management given to us by a trillionaire who is considered the wisest of all time – Solomon. They are:

1. The money you have is not yours –you are but a steward. Proverbs 16:3

2. Accurate records – know what your money is doing. Proverbs 27:23

3. Have a money plan, sometimes called a budget.  Proverbs 21:5

4. Honoring God with your money. Proverbs 3:9

5. Practice a lifestyle of generosity. Proverbs 11:24-25

6. Paying yourself is part of paying your bills. Proverbs 21:20

7. Patience is required for financial freedom. Proverbs 13:11

8. Be satisfied with what you have. Proverbs 15:16

Enjoy victorious living by employing these eight concepts in your life. I will be explaining, expanding, and expounding on each of these concepts this Sunday, so we can all grow into living a victorious life.
